Should Your Hair Be Cut Dry or Wet?
Curly, wavy and heavily textured hair is usually best cut dry, because curl pattern and shrinkage only show accurately when hair is in its natural state. Straight and fine hair is often cut wet, where precise lines are easier to see and control. Many cuts use both: a wet cut for the shape, then dry detailing.
Cutting curly hair only while it is wet and stretched is one of the most common reasons a curly cut looks uneven once it dries. When you book, tell us how you usually wear your hair, whether you air dry or blow dry, and what is not working with your current cut. That way we fix the problem instead of repeating it.

Bobs, Long Layers, Curtain Bangs and Curly Cuts
These are the haircuts Solana Beach clients ask for most. Each one depends on your hair type as much as the style itself.
- Bob haircuts: a blunt bob and a layered bob behave very differently on fine and thick hair, so the line is set by your texture and face shape.
- Long layers: weight comes out of the interior instead of the perimeter, so you get movement without losing length.
- Curtain bangs: parted and swept to the sides so they blend into face-framing layers, and easier to grow out than full bangs.
- Curly haircuts: cut dry, curl by curl, so the shape works with your pattern once it dries.
Shags, pixies and men’s cuts are on the menu too. Bring a few reference photos if you have them, and we will talk through what will work with your hair.

Each haircut starts with a short consultation about your face shape, routine and goals. Badri then cuts, checks the shape as your hair dries and finishes with a blowout and styling tips you can repeat at home. Freehand face-framing is part of every precision cut.
Most clients book every six to eight weeks to keep their shape. If you are growing your hair out, a trim of an inch or less every four to six weeks removes split ends without costing you length. Shaping & Refresh covers in-between visits.

Haircuts, Answered
Most clients come in every six to eight weeks to keep their cut in shape. If you are growing your hair out, a light trim every four to six weeks removes split ends without taking off much length. Shorter styles like pixies and bobs usually need visits closer to the six-week mark.
We cut curly hair dry. Curl pattern and shrinkage only show accurately when hair is in its natural, unstretched state, so a dry cut lets us shape each curl where it actually sits. Cutting curly hair only while wet often leaves an uneven shape once it dries.
Curtain bangs are parted in the middle and swept to the sides, blending into the surrounding face-framing layers. Full bangs are cut straight across for a stronger line on the forehead. Curtain bangs are generally lower maintenance and much easier to grow out if you change your mind.
A precision haircut is $120 to $175, depending on length, density and how much reshaping your hair needs, and it includes a blowout and styling guidance. A Shaping & Refresh service for maintaining an existing cut is $75. Final pricing is confirmed at your appointment.
Yes. A haircut is a standalone service and does not require color or any chemical service. If you do want color later, we can plan the cut so it works with balayage, highlights or an all-over color you book at another visit.
Bring two or three photos of cuts you like, and one you did not like if you have it. Come with your hair styled the way you normally wear it so Badri can see how it falls day to day. Mention any recent color, keratin or perm service.
